Pillage the Village
The Sandbox Challenge

The Sandbox Challenge

Sandbox mode was added to Pillage the Village to allow you to utilize your creativity and now it's time to prove just how creative you are in XGen's Official "Sandbox Challenge" competition!

Here's how it works:

  1. Unlock the 'Sandbox Mode' option on the main menu by reaching Level 5 and saving your game.
  2. Create the most entertaining and innovative video of you or your friends performing stunts, tricks, glitches, and scenes in Pillage the Village's sandbox mode.
  3. Capture the action using a video-capture program, such as HyperCam, and upload your video to YouTube.
  4. Each submitted video will be judged by members of the XGenStudios team, and First, Second, and Third place winners will receive prizes.

How to Record & Post Video

For capturing video in Sandbox Mode, we recommend using HyperCam. HyperCam is simple to use, and is a free Shareware download which you may use and evaluate for as long as you like.

Download Hypercam

Video and Sound recording can be very demanding tasks for a PC, especially with Pillage the Village running simultaneously. Unfortunately, it is likely that older systems will be unable to record at an acceptable level of quality. However, you can help alleviate demands on your PC by closing all other running applications during the capture and selecting a fast and efficient codec for the capture (Codecs can vary by system, but we recommend trying an XVid, MPG or Divx encoder). Configure the codec to encode in "real time", if possible, for best results.

Download the XVid Codec

Download the DivX Codec

Be sure to limit the screen area of the capture to the game window itself, and adjust the framerate as required to achieve smooth results. You should do a few test captures before recording your movie.

Feel free to use any video capture program you prefer, the video itself is what is important.

Once you've completed your video and are ready to post it, navigate to YouTube.com and sign up for an account if you do not have one already. Once you're logged in, select the "upload" button in the upper-right part of the screen and follow the on-screen instructions.
